Speech and Language Therapy services by the NHS are hugely overrun, with some waiting lists being almost a year! This means there may be a delay in how soon children's speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) are identified, and how quickly support is being put on place to help them.
I studied in Speech Pathology and Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University, completing this in 2013. I started my career 10 years ago working for a private Speech and Language Therapy company for 3 years, working in mainstream school and designated provisions. I then began to work for the NHS and have done this for the past 7 years.
I currently work with pre-school and primary aged children with speech, language and communication difficulties, being based both in clinic and in mainstream schools, and designated provisions within these. I have extensive experience in working with pre-school and primary aged children with a variety of language and communication difficulties, including speech sound disorders, difficulties with spoken or understanding of language and social communication difficulties, and am highly competent in writing reports to contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments. I have also worked with children with various diagnoses including but not limited to, children with a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy and Downs Syndrome.
I have completed training courses for the following:
I am passionate about supporting parents and school staff to develop the knowledge and skills to help best support their children with language and/or communication difficulties, for them to reach their full potential. I am currently based in Hale, Wilmslow and Alderly Edge, however am willing to travel to some areas in South Manchester upon request.
Alongside my current role as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for the NHS, I now offer some private Speech and Language Therapy assessment and therapy sessions.
I also offer bespoke training and coaching sessions for parents and educational settings, providing practical ideas and strategies as to how best support children with identified speech, language and communication needs, as well as creating general communication friendly environments.
I cover Hale, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, and some areas in South Manchester.
